HOW WE CAN HELP: OUR SERVICES
At Empowering Parents, we offer resources and support to properly advocate for your child, including:
CASE MANAGEMENT
Ongoing mentoring for parents, including prepping for school meetings, facilitating communication with school staff for a collaborative relationship, reviewing existing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), assisting in obtaining, reviewing and organizing educational records and chronological mapping of standardized tests, and creating a comprehensive overview of your child to show progress or lack thereof.
PARENTING NETWORKS
Confidential, small groups peer-led by a moderator, as well as EP Connections, our unique support network for parents facing similar issues, to share experiences, seek advice, offer personal insight, and build community.
INFORMATIONAL
SESSIONS
Regularly scheduled talks from experts in education and child psychology, from topics on special education laws and rights to best parenting practices for children with specific diagnoses.
ONE-ON-ONE
FAMILY
GUIDANCE
Personal meetings to address your child’s struggles and offer direction, including navigating the special education process and academic evaluations, finding specialists, understanding clinical diagnoses and their impact on your child’s needs in school, obtaining neuropsych exams, knowing parental rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and more.
SPECIAL EDUCATION COACHING
Guidance on developing and understanding IEPs or 504 plan requirements, Special Education laws, standardized test score results, and best practices for collaboration with schools, including how to advocate for appropriate goals, services, accommodations, and modifications.
DATA
TUTORIALS
Instruction on understanding your child’s school data, from reviewing and mapping standardized test scores year-over-year, to advocating for the most appropriate educational placement and addressing their deficits relative to peers.
My child has a 504 Plan and I’ve frequently reached out to Julie for advice on how to approach situations. Her advice has been sound and has helped resolve the issues we have encountered.
